What Is An EAP/EFAP?
It is a program for the employee and the employee's family which offers:
- Confidential counselling and assessment services
from experienced psychologists.
- After hours confidential telephone answering service.
- Assistance in accessing community resources.
Why An EAP/EFAP?
We all sometimes experience difficulties in our lives. Occasionally,
we may become overwhelmed and find it difficult to cope. Whatever
the cause of our difficulties, they can affect all aspects of our lives (work,
relationships, health, etc.) as well as affect the people who come in contact
with us (family, co-workers, friends). The EAP/EFAP provides you with
someone to talk to regarding your problems, and assist you to find solutions.
Some benefits of this program include:

- Restored capacity to carry out work and personal
responsibilities.
- Enhanced performance in various spheres of life.
Who Will Know?
You and whomever you choose to tell, within the limits of professional
and legal directives regarding client and public safety (see Privacy Section).
One of the top priorities of the EAP/EFAP program is confidentiality.
We are here to provide assistance to you. If contact is initiated
by you, no information is shared with your employer regarding your participation
in this program. We do not work for your employer and any information
reported to your employer is only of a statistical nature and will never
reveal your identity. All our files are absolutely confidential and
information about you is not released except upon your request.
Who is Eligible for Service?
All employees and their family members who are covered by Extended
Health Benefits are eligible.
What are the Costs?
The cost will vary depending on your Extended Health Benefit coverage.
Some insurance plans will cover a percentage of the hourly fee, others may
cover a maximum dollar amount per session. If you so desire, we will
bill the insurance company directly, providing the insurance company permits
direct billing.
If your spouse also has an employee benefit plan a combination of benefits
may be utilized.
What Kind of Assistance is Available?
We provide a wide range of psychological therapy and assessment services
to adults, adolescents and children. Some issues and concerns with
which we deal include, but are not limited to: stress, depression, anxiety,
anger management, marital conflicts, family problems, addictions (including
gambling), learning difficulties, memory problems, attention deficit/hyperactivity
disorder, workplace issues, bereavement, loss, career planning, and physical
health concerns.
We are experienced in working with people from various cultural backgrounds
and are sensitive to the importance of cultural issues.
How Qualified are our Psychologists?
Our firm has provided EAP/EFAP services to employees and their dependents
for a number of companies and agencies for over 20 years.
Services are provided by chartered psychologists having diverse areas of
expertise. Our psychologists have extensive experience in various
settings, including hospitals, schools and government or community agencies.
All psychologists working in our firm are members in good standing with
the College of Alberta Psychologists.
